My Culture

I agree with Geert Hofstede statements, because he showed exactly what Kuwaitis about. He showed how their is inequality in our society ( population, and different kinds of people from all around the world), how each member has a  huge responsibility for each group of people, how Kuwaiti peoples quality of life are, and how Kuwaiti people are hard workers. For example, my parents are exactly what Geert Hofstede said about the Kuwaiti culture, they are responsible and hard workers, they want success but they can not have it because of the quality of life in Kuwait, not the amount of money they have, but the feeling of success and the low improvements the society has.

My culture

My country ,where I live, is in the middle east, and it is called Kuwait. I will talk about what is Kuwait, so that we can get a good overview of the deep drivers of its culture relative to other world cultures.

1-Kuwait scores high on power distances which means that people accept a hierarchical order in which everybody has a place and which needs no further justification. For example, my father, who works in the bank of kuwait, goes to his bosses house every week, because he is my fathers best friend.

2-Kuwait is also considered a collectivistic society. For example, when people have  a huge project, they do not start on the project after they know how this project will benefit the people, and the country.

3-In addition, Kuwait has a low score on masculinity, which means that Kuwait is low on achieving success in the society. For example, in 2009, Kuwait was going to start to make a new street in the city, then after week they stopped the project with no reason. Kuwait is not achieving success, because they do not show any hard work on wanting to achieve it.

4-Kuwait has no long term orientation, but it scores high in uncertainty avoidance, which means Kuwait maintains rules which makes people have an inner urge to be busy and work hard. For example, my father always gives excuses to his friends that he is busy at work or at the house.

I hope that you visit Kuwait sometime, because you will be fascinated by it!!!
